Apple Face!

I made Kynzie applesauce, and although she loved it, she was making all sorts of hilarious faces.

Daddy & Baby Cuddles

Kynzie's so used to falling asleep with me that cuddle time between her and Ryan is way too uncommon. So tonight, Ryan gave her a bottle and got to snuggle with her.

So sweet!

Swim Class!

Kynzie had her first swim class this evening, and got to experience the pool for the first time! She was pretty tired, and we actually had to wake her up to go. Our class is four weeks, twice a week. She seemed to really enjoy it but I think she'll be much more excited next time when she's not quite so exhausted. She wasn't too sure about getting her ears in the water. When I laid her on her back in the water she wou
ld grab at them. I even dunked her completely under water a few times and she did really well. And she got to break in her pretty little bathing suit!

The instructor told us to put the rings under water to try to get the babies to go for them, but Kynzie was more interested in chewing on it than diving for it.

The babies were having fun bouncing in and out of the water.

Kynzie liked being all the way in the water.

Kynzie's friend Kiev sure liked the water too!

The other times I put her under water she didn't have quite an upset reaction, but this is the only video Ryan was able to get of it.

All that fun in the pool made for one sleepy little baby!

Entertained By The Simple Things

We've been giving Kynzie teething biscuits and she loves them! It's the only way she'll sit in her activity center anymore- she's way too active to be contained!

She sure seems to be easily entertained- just hand her the TV remote and she's a happy camper!

Baby Bathtime!

Kynzie's still loving bathtime! Since the other bathtime video stopped working, and I no longer have it on my computer, I took another one to share with you! She loves to hear herself talk in the bathroom because of the echoing. See how she doesn't even flinch when I pour water over her head? She's a little fishy!

Swinging At The Park!!

We went to the park today and Kynzie got to swing for the first time! At first she didn't seem too interested but after a few minutes she was really enjoying herself. We finally had a nice day, so me & Kynz and my friend Erica & her son Kiev, who's only 5 days younger than Kynzie, all went to the park. There was only one baby swing, so Kynzie and Kiev were taking turns. On Kiev's turn, I was holding her and swinging and she fell asleep sitting up. So cute!

See the funny noises she's making? My Mom taught her to do that last time she came to visit, and Kynzie just thinks it's so funny to make. She's getting her second tooth in!

The Story Of Our Day In Pictures

We went out to breakfast yesterday morning and Kynzie got to practice drinking out of a cup. Her favorite part was banging the cup on the table.

Later that day, when we got home, she got to eat some cheerios!

I put a bib on her, but instead of using it to shield her clothes, she decided she wanted to pretend to be a superhero. She wanted it to be a cape.

More of the cheerios ended up on the floor than in her mouth. But she sure had fun throwing them!

When I went to change her diaper, she protested. She thought it would be more fun to play with than to wear.

"Do I have to wear a diaper Mommy?"

She's gotten very fast at crawling. She loves it when we don't have certain areas blocked off, and she's able to explore the house.

First Tooth!

Kynzie cut her first tooth today! She's been particularly fussy today, and extremely attached to me, just needing extra cuddles and nursing quite frequently. I had thought it was probably just because of her shots yesterday. But as we were out shopping, my mom felt in her mouth and discovered a tooth! The doctor and I both felt yesterday, and there wasn't anything there. It's only a matter of time before she has a toothy little smile.

Doctor's Appointment

Kynzie's doctor appointment went well today. She weighs 17 lbs, 14 oz, which puts her in the 75th percentile, perfectly healthy. And she's 27 3/4 inches long. She hasn't grown much since her last appointment in November! But that's okay, because she's super healthy. And she's in the 95th percentile for head circumference- she's got a big brain! :) I explained Friday's situation and Dr. Kocher said that she probably just had a little stomach bug, that it's been going around. She said that it's actually very rare for her intestines to get twisted, and that's why they don't worry about the umbilical hernia. When milestones came up, her doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if Kynz starts walking within the next month- and that she's very far ahead for her age.

We bought Kynzie an inexpensive little ball pit yesterday. She seems to really enjoy it, but would probably have more fun if there were a few more balls.

Daddy wanted to play too!

Our Little Scare

As some of you may have heard, I took Kynzie to urgent care earlier today. Last night, as we were laying in bed, and she was completely asleep, I noticed that her belly button felt odd. Normally, when she's completely relaxed, you're able to push it in, and last night, it felt hard and I was unable to do that. She threw up in the middle of the night, but I didn't think much of it. This morning, she slept from 6 a.m to 10 a.m, and a 4 hour stretch is uncommon for her. When she woke up, she threw up a lot. It wasn't just spit up, more like vomit. I couldn't get her to eat. She would latch on for just a minute, and then spit up anything she had eaten. She hadn't had a wet diaper in quite awhile, and had hardly eaten anything in 8 hours. She seemed pretty lethargic, and I couldn't even get a smile out of her. Although, she wasn't running a fever, I was extremely concerned. I called her doctor's office, and they said they would have the doctor call back at the end of their work day, which is 1:30 p.m. They told me I couldn't take her to urgent care because she is too young. I was very irritated with they way they handled things. They ended up telling me that I could bring her into urgent care, which is located down stairs from her doctor's office. I tried giving her a bottle of breast milk, and she wouldn't eat that way either. Once we got to urgent care, she seemed to be feeling a little better, and was acting more like her normal self. The doctor finally saw us, and had me feed her to see if it would stay down, and it did. She also thoroughly evaluated her stomach and her belly button, and by that point, it was able to be pushed in again. By the end of the visit, she was acting completely fine. The doctor said that it may have been a stomach bug, or that maybe her intestines got tangled up and it worked itself out. She's still fine now, and her belly button is normal again. She has a routine checkup on Monday, so I'll have a chance to talk to her doctor about today's events.

Bathtime!

Kynzie is loving the big bath tub. I let her play in it for quite awhile tonight. Since bathing in the big tub, she doesn't mind having water poured over her head. She never threw a complete fit over it, but before, I always made sure to do it near the end of the bath because sometimes she would get upset. And now, she acts like it's no big deal! A friend of mine came over and I let her feed her bananas. She was giving her too big of bites, and Kynzie was a mess. Although, she did eat a half of a banana! And then I gave her almost the whole other half in a mesh feeder, and she ate quite a bit of that. She loved using the mesh feeder because she could do it herself. I think she's going through a growth spurt, because she's been nursing a lot more than usual. She has a doctor's appointment on Monday, so we'll get to learn how big she's gotten!

First Time In The Big Bath

Kynzie took a bath in the big bath for the first time last night! We gave her a few toys, and she loved it! It went very well! We had previously been using an infant tub, the kind that has the net in it. She was getting too big for the net, so we took it out. But then she seemed to dislike the tub, because the part where her legs go was deeper, and she would hold her legs up out of the water.

She tried avocados a few days ago, and she loved that too! I think she liked it better than bananas. After the first bite and a quizzical face, she let out a happy squeal. We also tried to feed her carrots, and she wanted nothing to do with that! She actually attempted to pull them out of her mouth.

Christmas!!!

Kynzie's first Christmas was wonderful. She got a little fussy, because it was pretty hectic. We drove to Gig Harbor on Christmas Eve, and because of the weather and having to stop for Kynz, we didn't make it there until almost 11:30 at night! And we left the harbor at about 1 p.m. Christmas Day, so that we could spend time with the other half of the family. Kynzie didn't quite grasp the concept of opening presents.

But she sure did love the bows! And of course she also loved the wrapping paper.

We were eating prime rib for Christmas dinner and decided to give Kynzie a few bites since it was afterall, a special occasion. So after Ryan worked hard in the kitchen pureeing it, Kynzie got her first taste of meat. She didn't seem to mind it, but I don't think she was the biggest fan.

Skills Mastered: Crawling & Standing

Kynzie has officially mastered crawling. She can go anywhere, and she loves it. Her favorite place to go is into the bathroom. I think she likes the way it echoes. And man can she go! She's fast!

She's still constantly standing. And she's even starting to cruise a little bit. She figured out how to get herself from the couch to the table without falling. And she's continued to let go, and her balance is slowly improving.

Standing Up & Making Silly Noises

Kynzie's now a pro at standing herself up. She's still trying to let go too! Of course, she falls over pretty quickly. But she's making progress daily. She is one determined baby!

She's been making raspberries too.

We fed her mango a few days ago, and she loved it! She's pretty difficult to feed, because she seems to want to do it herself, constantly grabbing the bowl and the spoon.

Kynzie's First Time Eating Food

Kynzie got her first taste of food today. We started her with bananas. I decided that I'm going to make all of her food fresh, because I want her to know what food really tastes like, and jarred baby food just isn't the same. She did really well with it. Not even a drip made it's way onto her.

It snowed today! The roads are pretty icy, so we went and bought chains for the car since Ryan has to work tomorrow. It's so pretty outside! Although, it's very, very cold. Kynz and I plan to stay inside tomorrow.

Sippy Cup

Kynzie got her first taste of something besides breastmilk. She's seemed particularly interested in what we're drinking lately. She's constantly grabbing at our drink bottles and cups. So we decided to give her a sippy cup, just to try it. I put just a little bit of water in it. She grabbed the cup by the handles, and immediately put the spout in her mouth. But she couldn't figure out that you have to tip it. So I filled it up more so that she wouldn't have to tip it as high. The look on her face when she got water in her mouth was priceless. I captured it so that I could share it with you!

Since the crib incident, she's started pulling herself up on everything. She's a gutsy little one. She seems to think that she can stand up all by herself. She'll get herself standing up while holding on to the couch, and then she'll let go with one hand, and then try to let go with the other. She'll be walking before too long! We're going to start her on solids tomorrow. Probably bananas, and I will be sure to take video of that and post it too!

Standing!

So although she's been attempting to pull herself up to stand, she had so far been unsuccessful. She can't seem to reach high enough to do it. But yesterday, as I was getting dressed, I put her in her crib, and about five minutes later, I came in and found her like this.

I could not believe it! I was in shock, and ran to get the camera, so I could share the moment! She looked so proud of herself. It's definitely time to lower the crib. Here's little sleeping
Kynzie in a makeshift bed in our living room.

And our oh-so beautiful Christmas tree....

Oh, How Much She's Grown!

I was looking through pictures today, and my how much she's grown! The first picture is from when she was only a week old, and the second is from today. What a difference! We took her to get her pictures taken, and they are so cute. Expect them in the mail soon! Here's a few videos of her! She's sure starting to get the crawling thing down! And here in a few weeks, she'll get to have her first taste of real food!

Standing Up

Though she still has yet to master crawling, she's already trying to pull her self up to standing. She can do it if you let her grab onto your fingers. We propped her standing up against the futon and she just thought it was so much fun.

Mesmerized by Kitty Elvis

Kynzie sure loves our kitty, Elvis. She loves to just stare at him, and she gets really excited when he gets close to her. She tries to grab him and pet him.

Sitting

Kynzie is sitting up all on her own now. For the past few weeks, she's gotten more stable, and has been able to pull herself almost to sitting if she was on the bed or a pillow. But she hadn't even been close to doing it on the floor. And then yesterday, all of a sudden, she just sat right up, all by herself! She's a sitting machine now. She looks so proud of herself when she does it. She just moves her little self all over the place, sitting up, then moving somewhere else and sitting up there. She's even mastered grabbing a toy and sitting up with it to play!

Giggling Sounds

Kynzie's starting to giggle! She really loves her activity center. She figured out that she can bounce herself in it and she has a blast! Sorry about the poor lighting of the video. I had to catch her from a distance because if I get too close to her she stops making the cute sounds!

Doctor's Appointment

Kynzie had a checkup today. She weighs 16 lbs 2 oz, and she's 27 inches long. She's in the 97th percentile for her height. She's one tall little girl! And you know she doesn't get that from her 5 foot, 2 inch tall Mommy! Her doctor said she's just perfect! Just as we suspected, the doctor confirmed that yes, she is starting to teeth. And she said by watching the way she squirms, she'll probably be an early crawler.

We went to Old Navy today and got her a few new outfits. Here's a picture of her modeling one of the ou
tfits!

Toys, Toys, Toys!!

Kynzie's starting to enjoy her toys a lot more. Her bouncy chair has a toy bar on it, and for the first time yesterday, she was reaching up at it! If you rattle a toy above her, she reaches her arms out at it. Today I had a handful of binkies, and she grabbed one, and put it in her mouth.

She's also still way into sucking on her fists. I always say she's trying to break the world record for the most hand fit in a mouth.

She still loves her feet too, and continues to be oh-so vocal!

Kynz is still trying as hard as ever to crawl, and now she's even closer. She can get up on her hands and knees. But she only seems to move one leg, which causes her to roll over unintentionally. She's definitely still squirming, scooting and rolling her little self all over the place!

Kynzie's New Activity Center

After I got home from work today, Kynzie was a little on the fussy side. She didn't seem to want to be held, and I was able to calm her down by laying her down and letting her suck on my finger. I love how she was holding onto my hand with both of hers. She's so sweet!

She's still growing by the minute. I put her in a 6-month sized outfit today! It's a little baggy, but in a few weeks I'm going to have to go through at pack up the old and get out the new!

She got a new activity center! She's not quite big enough to sit well in it, so she kind of flops around a bit. But she still loves it!

Loud Little Kynzie

Kynzie's full of new sounds again...She also loves pulling on my hair, nose and lips. She explores everything with her hands!
