Christmas!!!

Kynzie's first Christmas was wonderful. She got a little fussy, because it was pretty hectic. We drove to Gig Harbor on Christmas Eve, and because of the weather and having to stop for Kynz, we didn't make it there until almost 11:30 at night! And we left the harbor at about 1 p.m. Christmas Day, so that we could spend time with the other half of the family. Kynzie didn't quite grasp the concept of opening presents.

But she sure did love the bows! And of course she also loved the wrapping paper.

We were eating prime rib for Christmas dinner and decided to give Kynzie a few bites since it was afterall, a special occasion. So after Ryan worked hard in the kitchen pureeing it, Kynzie got her first taste of meat. She didn't seem to mind it, but I don't think she was the biggest fan.

Skills Mastered: Crawling & Standing

Kynzie has officially mastered crawling. She can go anywhere, and she loves it. Her favorite place to go is into the bathroom. I think she likes the way it echoes. And man can she go! She's fast!

She's still constantly standing. And she's even starting to cruise a little bit. She figured out how to get herself from the couch to the table without falling. And she's continued to let go, and her balance is slowly improving.

Standing Up & Making Silly Noises

Kynzie's now a pro at standing herself up. She's still trying to let go too! Of course, she falls over pretty quickly. But she's making progress daily. She is one determined baby!

She's been making raspberries too.

We fed her mango a few days ago, and she loved it! She's pretty difficult to feed, because she seems to want to do it herself, constantly grabbing the bowl and the spoon.

Kynzie's First Time Eating Food

Kynzie got her first taste of food today. We started her with bananas. I decided that I'm going to make all of her food fresh, because I want her to know what food really tastes like, and jarred baby food just isn't the same. She did really well with it. Not even a drip made it's way onto her.

It snowed today! The roads are pretty icy, so we went and bought chains for the car since Ryan has to work tomorrow. It's so pretty outside! Although, it's very, very cold. Kynz and I plan to stay inside tomorrow.

Sippy Cup

Kynzie got her first taste of something besides breastmilk. She's seemed particularly interested in what we're drinking lately. She's constantly grabbing at our drink bottles and cups. So we decided to give her a sippy cup, just to try it. I put just a little bit of water in it. She grabbed the cup by the handles, and immediately put the spout in her mouth. But she couldn't figure out that you have to tip it. So I filled it up more so that she wouldn't have to tip it as high. The look on her face when she got water in her mouth was priceless. I captured it so that I could share it with you!

Since the crib incident, she's started pulling herself up on everything. She's a gutsy little one. She seems to think that she can stand up all by herself. She'll get herself standing up while holding on to the couch, and then she'll let go with one hand, and then try to let go with the other. She'll be walking before too long! We're going to start her on solids tomorrow. Probably bananas, and I will be sure to take video of that and post it too!

Standing!

So although she's been attempting to pull herself up to stand, she had so far been unsuccessful. She can't seem to reach high enough to do it. But yesterday, as I was getting dressed, I put her in her crib, and about five minutes later, I came in and found her like this.

I could not believe it! I was in shock, and ran to get the camera, so I could share the moment! She looked so proud of herself. It's definitely time to lower the crib. Here's little sleeping
Kynzie in a makeshift bed in our living room.

And our oh-so beautiful Christmas tree....

Oh, How Much She's Grown!

I was looking through pictures today, and my how much she's grown! The first picture is from when she was only a week old, and the second is from today. What a difference! We took her to get her pictures taken, and they are so cute. Expect them in the mail soon! Here's a few videos of her! She's sure starting to get the crawling thing down! And here in a few weeks, she'll get to have her first taste of real food!

Standing Up

Though she still has yet to master crawling, she's already trying to pull her self up to standing. She can do it if you let her grab onto your fingers. We propped her standing up against the futon and she just thought it was so much fun.

Mesmerized by Kitty Elvis

Kynzie sure loves our kitty, Elvis. She loves to just stare at him, and she gets really excited when he gets close to her. She tries to grab him and pet him.

Sitting

Kynzie is sitting up all on her own now. For the past few weeks, she's gotten more stable, and has been able to pull herself almost to sitting if she was on the bed or a pillow. But she hadn't even been close to doing it on the floor. And then yesterday, all of a sudden, she just sat right up, all by herself! She's a sitting machine now. She looks so proud of herself when she does it. She just moves her little self all over the place, sitting up, then moving somewhere else and sitting up there. She's even mastered grabbing a toy and sitting up with it to play!

Giggling Sounds

Kynzie's starting to giggle! She really loves her activity center. She figured out that she can bounce herself in it and she has a blast! Sorry about the poor lighting of the video. I had to catch her from a distance because if I get too close to her she stops making the cute sounds!

Doctor's Appointment

Kynzie had a checkup today. She weighs 16 lbs 2 oz, and she's 27 inches long. She's in the 97th percentile for her height. She's one tall little girl! And you know she doesn't get that from her 5 foot, 2 inch tall Mommy! Her doctor said she's just perfect! Just as we suspected, the doctor confirmed that yes, she is starting to teeth. And she said by watching the way she squirms, she'll probably be an early crawler.

We went to Old Navy today and got her a few new outfits. Here's a picture of her modeling one of the ou
tfits!

Toys, Toys, Toys!!

Kynzie's starting to enjoy her toys a lot more. Her bouncy chair has a toy bar on it, and for the first time yesterday, she was reaching up at it! If you rattle a toy above her, she reaches her arms out at it. Today I had a handful of binkies, and she grabbed one, and put it in her mouth.

She's also still way into sucking on her fists. I always say she's trying to break the world record for the most hand fit in a mouth.

She still loves her feet too, and continues to be oh-so vocal!

Kynz is still trying as hard as ever to crawl, and now she's even closer. She can get up on her hands and knees. But she only seems to move one leg, which causes her to roll over unintentionally. She's definitely still squirming, scooting and rolling her little self all over the place!

Kynzie's New Activity Center

After I got home from work today, Kynzie was a little on the fussy side. She didn't seem to want to be held, and I was able to calm her down by laying her down and letting her suck on my finger. I love how she was holding onto my hand with both of hers. She's so sweet!

She's still growing by the minute. I put her in a 6-month sized outfit today! It's a little baggy, but in a few weeks I'm going to have to go through at pack up the old and get out the new!

She got a new activity center! She's not quite big enough to sit well in it, so she kind of flops around a bit. But she still loves it!

Feet, Feet, Feet!!!

Kynzie is getting so good at getting her feet. Today, Ryan had her sitting up on his chest and she slowly slumped over. He said that as soon as she saw her foot, straight in her mouth it went! Everything is going in her mouth....And she's a drooler!

Shake, Rattle & Roll!

I was so excited when I bought this rattle for her when I was pregnant- I thought it was the coolest toy in the world! And now she can play with it! Her eye coordination is getting really good. Watch how well she follows the rattle!

After I got home from work and nursed her, Kynzie was being super sweet. See how well she can roll over?

Baby Photo Shoot

I love taking pictures of my baby...Today we decided to have a hat fashion show....It was Kynzie's idea, of course....

"Why are you putting a hat on me?!"

"More hats?! This one doesn't even fit me!"

"It's September Mommy, not December!"

"What are these things you put on my feet? I gotta check this out!"

Crying, Sleepy Baby

Tonight marked the beginning of our newly imposed bedtime routine. 7 p.m. is now going to mark the commencement of bath time, a massage with lotion, pajamas, nursing, and then sleep. I am the queen of late nights and afternoon starts no more, for Kynzie's sake. Off to a bad start, tonight's routine began at 7:20. After happily nursing, Kynzie took a bath. And as normal, she threw both of her feet off the sides of the net and into the water. So cute! Bath time was all smiles. After her bath, I laid her on her blanket and quietly spoke to her while massaging her with lotion. And then on went the pajamas. And then just as planned, she nursed. Everything was going great! But the instant we put her in her crib to sleep, she thought it was play time. Shortly after play time was over, she began exhibiting those classic sleepy signs, and oh boy, was she fighting sleep! We tried giving her a bottle...the times that Ryan gets to feed her are few and far between, and sometimes, Daddy needs that feeding-bonding time too. She wasn't having the bottle. She wanted nothing to do with it. I swear she could smell me! After nearly an hour of fussing, I finally let her nurse. She wasn't hungry- she was nursing purely for the comfort. So I nursed her, held her, loved her, cuddled her, finally got her to sleep, and put her in her swing- one of her favorite places. Well, there's always tomorrow!

Improving Coordination

She grabbed a rattle out of Ryan's hand! She did it multiple times. Her coordination is improving daily!

Notice how much better her little belly button is getting?
P.S: Sorry about my horrible video taking skills!

Talking Baby

Kynzie being super talkative...

Naptime Achievement

I feel like I've climbed Mt. Everest. I got Kynzie to take a nap in her crib!!! The trend lately has been that she either naps in my arms or her swing. The second I would lay her down in her crib her pretty little eyes would open wide up. So this time, instead of picking her up when she started to squirm, I let her squirm for a minute, and she fell back asleep. I had to take the picture without a flash so I didn't disturb her...

Daddy & Kynzie Bathtime

Ryan successfully overcame his fear of bathing Kynzie yesterday. One of the first times he & I attempted to bathe her by ourselves at home, it turned into a big ordeal. Kynzie wasn't feeling well, resulting in her screaming during the bath. Kitty Ivy hopped up on the kitchen counter and swatted at Ryan. Since this experience, Ryan hasn't been too keen on the idea of bath time. It took me a while to get over it too. We had been sticking to sponge baths for the most part. I got over my fear one day while Ryan was at work. After than, he was insistent that bath time was a "Mommy thing." Last week, while I was at work, I insisted that he give her a bath. When I got home, I could tell that he had bathed her, but not her head. He hadn't wanted to get her head wet! So yesterday, with supervision from me, he bathed her, head-to-toe and finally realized that it's not that bad!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention how good Kynzie is at getting her fist and fingers in her mouth! It's so cute, and makes me laugh when she seems to be trying to get her WHOLE fist in her mouth.

Kynzie Update

Kynzie's getting bigger by the day! At her last doctor's appointment, on the 2nd, she weighed 13lbs, and was 23 and 3/4 inches. She's in the 90th percentile for her weight, and the 95th for her height. Dr. Kocher said she's just perfect, but of course, you already knew that.

She's trying so hard to crawl! About 2 weeks ago, she mastered rolling from her back to her tummy, and it's near impossible to keep her on her back anymore. It's funny, because she used to hate being on her tummy. She always got frustrated that she couldn't move, and after a few minutes of it, she would start to whine. But now, she loves it!

She's getting really loud too, and the more positive reactions we give her, the louder she gets. She's gotten really good at making vowel sounds: "Aaaaaaaaaa" and "Oooooooo" Sometimes she even lets out a loud screeching "Eeeeee" sound! She's getting so animated!

She's able to hold on to rattles now, and she even gives them a little shake sometimes....She really likes her set of pink and purple baby keys!
