Kynzie’s New Room

After finally growing tired of a living room floor covered in toys, we decided to re-do Kynzie’s room. She has always loved her room, but the way we had it set up wasn’t exactly play friendly. A few trips to Ikea and a paint coat later, this is the result.

She got a table and chairs and a new easel!

The toy organization is also a new addition.

Kynzie really enjoys having a space that’s all hers.

Kynzie loves this little vanity set. I don’t know where she learned what the “lipstick” is for. She is such a little girl.

Our Big Boy

Ryker is getting so big and stable. He weighs around 3 lbs 11 oz now. Since he’s been put on high-flow nasal cannula (which happened  around 11 a.m. yesterday), I was able to get him out of bed and put him back by myself. He’s having an easier time regulating his body temperature so they’ve been leaving his isolette top up. 

I decided to share with Ryan.

 

I was so excited that since he’s no longer on CPAP that I could change his hat. So handsome in his matching robot hat and pajamas.

 

Ryker is bigger than the teddy bear now!

 

He’s doing really well holding the pacifier in his mouth. Hopefully we can start attempting to breastfeed soon.

Salsa

We went out for Mexican food and Kynzie couldn’t get enough salsa. She wasn’t even eating the chips, just using them as something to lick salsa off.

Clothes!

I was surprised when I saw that Ryker was dressed today. And out of all the clothes in his drawer (a family donated a large amount of new preemie clothes to the NICU and about 4 outfits went to Ryker), she coincidentally picked the only outfit I had left in there. I put it in there 4 or 5 days ago and didn’t tell the nurses because I felt kind of silly about it. I was just hoping that if they dressed him soon maybe he could wear it because it is a super cute outfit. Look at how big this preemie outfit is on him! He weighed 2 lbs 15 oz yesterday so we’re hoping to break the 3 lb mark today.

The Zoo

The Zoo has $2 admission every second Tuesday of the month, and surprisingly enough it was a gorgeous day. It was hard to get Kynzie to focus in on an animal if it wasn’t  right at the glass. She got really excited over the fish. She would bounce up and down shouting “fish, fish, fish!”. She pointed out and said “tiger,” “elephant,” “bird,” and a few others.

She liked running around the grass. We were doing our “monster walk.”

See the curb? She still has to crawl backwards to go down steps and she got a real early start on this one.

More Kangaroo Care

Out Of This World Pizza

We took Kynzie to a children’s pizza place. They even have an area dedicated to 2 and under, as well as a “big kid” jungle that we are allowed to go in with her. She had a blast!

She loved playing with this little kitchen. She kept putting things in the microwave and pressing the buttons. She realized in an instant that the buttons lacked functionality and was asking us for help.

 

She kept going for these cars but only a few times could I get her to sit on them the right way, and I wasn’t ever able to get her to use it. I think she just liked running around the area and getting in other kids way.

 

“Yee Haw!!”

 

She had a lot of fun climbing up into the “jungle” but didn’t want to go any further than that.

Kynzie loves slides. 

Halfway down this one she rolled onto her tummy and she still came down laughing!

She kept going back to the kitchen.
